About
My ability to become an effective technical program leader is built on years of working across complex engineering organizations and technologies.
How I work
People Stay close to the engineering teams, build relationships, listen to the experts, synthesize perspectives, and build on the combined knowledge and experience.
Depth I build technical knowledge in every domain I take ownership of. Going deep into the technical details helps me work effectively with architects and engineers, identify risks early, and drive better decisions.
Holistic View I never say "it's not my problem." My strategy is to expand my understanding beyond "my system." It helps connect the dots across organizations and technologies, and improves the outcomes of the systems I own.
Curiosity Curiosity drives me to continuously learn new domains, technologies, and architectures. It helps when discussing deep technical topics, understanding tradeoffs, and influencing decisions to create bigger impact.
Top-Down Alignment I believe in defining high-level goals and key results first. Clear top-down direction helps engineering teams align, prioritize, and commit to realistic bottom-up execution plans. It helps expose gaps early instead of discovering them at the end.
Distributed Planning Detailed plans work best when built together with the subject matter experts. Collaborative planning creates engagement, ownership, stronger commitment to execution, and higher confidence in delivering on time.
Agility You can't plan everything in advance. There are always unknown unknowns. Build the plan, track execution closely, adapt quickly, and iterate continuously.
Timeline Commitments Identify the MVP and keep the team focused on it while trying to achieve more. Commit to timelines with high confidence when possible — at minimum, with low confidence and fully aligned expectations across all stakeholders.
My Drive I enjoy highly complex projects that stretch my thinking, especially ambiguous problems that are not yet fully defined and require collaboration across strong engineering teams.
Mental Model Impossible is only an opinion.
Beyond Work
Cycling I love my Cervélo R5 road bike and riding through the small roads of the Santa Cruz mountains.
Hiking Hiking recently became my preferred way to get outdoors. Climbing trails like Kennedy Trail is a great workout, but mostly it's a great way to socialize and spend time with family and friends.
World Traveling Passionate about exploring different cultures, architecture, food, and landscapes around the world. I also enjoy experiencing extraordinary nature such as Alaska, Patagonia, New Zealand, and the Dolomites.
